Generate content for the Speaking Module
1. Personalize the topic
- Make sure to keep the content in your comfort zone.
- Do not try to make up stories on the spot.
- If you don't know anything about a topic, make sure to say around the topic but never give up and Never Say, " I don't know".
Example: Say that the candidate doesn't have personal experience with a question.
Examiner: Has your wallet ever been stolen?
Candidate: Well, this never happened to me personally, but I do remember a friend of mine once got mugged in Mumbai, way back in 2011.
2. Ask yourself questions:
- Ask yourself these questions while speaking :
WHY?
WHAT?
WHEN?
HOW?
WHAT?
WHEN?
HOW?
WHERE?
Example: How to put these questions into practice.
Examiner: Why do people eat at restaurants?
Candidate: People do eat out because they need to break out of the routine. People usually go to fancy places ( where) when they decide to go out , especially on the weekends(when).
3. Use the PPF method
- Divide the topic into past, present, and future.
- This is mostly helpful in Speaking Part 2.
- However, this can be used in any of the parts.
Example: How to put this into practice.
Examiner: Have you read any books recently?
Candidate: Oh very much! I developed the habit of reading at a young age (past). Since then, I have read a lot of books ( Present Perfect). Currently, I am reading Sapiens by Yuvi Harari (Present) and plan to read Karl Marx shortly (Future).
4. Philosophise the Topic
- This is an offbeat yet extremely effective way to generate content.
- You just have to talk especially in Parts 2 and 3 metaphysically on the topic.
- Talk more in general and from a wider perspective.
Part 2 topic: Describe a piece of technology that people are most dependent on.
Candidate: (After you have exhausted your content ) I believe technology has become an irreplaceable part of our lives and in the future people's employment and mental hygiene will be many of the things that will be mostly hit.
Generating content has been one of the most difficult tasks for many of the students.
